"And he said to all, 'If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it; and whoever loses his life for my sake, he will save it. For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself?'” (Luke 9:23-25)
Men! Each of us is on a spiritual journey. The extent to which we acknowledge and embrace this journey is another matter altogether. Do you walk daily with our Lord Jesus Christ, or are you stuck in slavery to sin, wondering where Jesus is in all of this? On January 4, 2021, a group of men will embark upon this journey from slavery to freedom through prayer, asceticism, and fraternity. It is called EXODUS90 (exodus90.com) and will last through Holy Saturday (4/3/21): 90 days. This will entail daily readings, reflections and prayer based on the book of Exodus. You will participate in various forms of asceticism that will shake you out of bondage so that you gain more time and focus on prayer and on your family. It will include the support of a fraternity of like-minded men who will be working through the challenges of this journey with you, some of whom have been through this before but were no different than you when they first started. This journey requires a commitment to one-hour weekly meetings as a fraternity.
There will be men from several different parishes including Immaculate Heart of Mary, St. Greg’s, St. Raymond’s and St. Mark’s, but men from all parishes are welcome. There will be a virtual information meeting on Tuesday, December 29th at 7 PM, to provide an opportunity for you to meet men who have been on this journey and to answer any questions you may have. You are also encouraged beforehand to explore the EXODUS90 website (exodus90.com).
Consider where you are in your spiritual journey: is it where you want to stay or are you ready to move forward? Please seriously consider this opportunity.
