AN IMPORTANT LETTER ABOUT IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY SCHOOL
Dear Parishioners and School Parents,
Many are interested in the plans for our school. Since 1952, we have been fortunate to have a fine school that provides much more than a top notch academic education. Our school assists parents in their God-given task of initiating their children into a lifetime relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. Working together at home, at school, and in the Church, all done in love, is the best way to hand on the faith. A sound Christian education is the tried and true way, the firm foundation, for a life time of fidelity to God, family, and country.
Right after Christmas, I began to put in place the process, provided by the Archdiocesan School Office, that will eventually lead to the selection of a permanent principal for the year 2019-2020 and beyond. This year (2018-2019) we were fortunate to have Ms. Jessica Schaukowitch, vice- principal, as administrator of the school. The process will be guided by the professional hand of Dr. Jonathan Schild, Associate Superintendent of Catholic Schools, who will chair the selection committee. There is also an advisory committee made up of the following: a local Catholic school principal; a current teacher at the school; a parent with children in the school; a professional person from the business world, who is also a long time parishioner; and myself.
We will soon begin to review the applications already received by the Archdiocese from those who have applied for principal positions open throughout the Archdiocese. We will only review the applications of those who have already been screened for proper credentials and background. In the end, I will be given the top two names from which I will select the new principal. Of course, I will listen closely to the views of those on the committee as well as the views of our faculty and parents. Faculty and parent sessions will be held on Monday, February 4
th in the afternoon and in the evening. There will also be the option of filling out a follow- up online survey. The job description has been on our website for about a month. It has also been published in the San Francisco Chronicle, and posted on our internal church website.
We are sincerely grateful to Ms. Jessica Schaukowitch for her dedicated and devoted service to the school these past five years. She has decided not to apply for the principal job. Thank you, Jessica, for your generous service to teachers, parents, and children. We wish you all the best.
I hope to be able to announce the name of the new principal before Easter. Please pray for me and all those involved in this important process of discernment. I entrust our entire school community and parish into the loving embrace of Mary Immaculate.
I am yours in her Immaculate Heart,
Fr. Mark G. Mazza, Pastor
