| Dear Parishioners, School Families & Friends of Immaculate Heart of Mary, Over fifty years ago, in 1947, Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish was founded in order to meet the growing needs of this community. Today, we are called on to respond to new challenges and the current needs of our parish and community. Building Our Vision serves as our response to a unique opportunity and the challenge to build new facilities to better serve our parish and school, provide Catholic education scholarships for future generations, and serve the elderly. Certainly, our parish cannot stand idle in the face of these challenges. We are compelled to act! I invite all parishioners, school parents and friends in the community to join us in prayer and sacrifice to bring about the success of this project. We have been blessed many times over since the founding of our parish. We also know that because of the many good works of our church family, God will continue to bless us. Your generous support will help us celebrate God?s goodness to us as individuals as well as members of this caring Catholic community. Sincerely yours in Christ, /s/ Fr. It is an affirmation of our commitment to mission and ministry. We are proud to be a part of this exciting program. We know that the parishioners of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish will do all that they can to further the ministry of the church and to offer services to the parishioners and the greater community we serve. We therefore ask every parishioner to join us in support of this campaign. /s/ Campaign Leadership Committee A Legacy of Quality Ministries and Services Immaculate Heart of Mary has been serving its parishioners with quality ministries and services in an atmosphere of spirituality and love since its establishment on September 19, 1947, by Archbishop John J. Mitty. Today the story of Immaculate Heart of Mary continues to be the story of a people, their deeds, and of great spiritual accomplishments. It is the story of a parish community growing together in faith, working together in hope, and worshipping together in love. On June 22, 1958, Father John J. Kenny (later Monsignor), the second
pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary, celebrated the first Sunday Mass in
the new parish church. The new church flourished on the lush grounds of
what had once been St. Josephs Academy. Today, under the leadership of Fr. MacDonald, with the assistance of Fr. Healy, nearly 2288 families call IHM their spiritual home. 300 children attend our school, which provides Catholic education for grades Kindergarten through eight. Much has happened to our parish over the years: natural wear and tear on our facilities, changes in how we teach our people, the introduction of new liturgical guidelines, and, most important, our willingness to continually search for and respond to new challenges and needs in our parish and community. Throughout it all, the one constant remains Immaculate Heart of Mary has served us well and, with these improvements, will continue to do so. Among the many manners in which we interact with our community are:
Our Vision Since 1947, Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish has served us well. With an unrelenting commitment to our dynamic parish family, IHM has grown and changed to accommodate the needs of our parishioners. To adequately plan for the future, the Parish Building Committee has carefully assessed the needs of our parish. Immaculate Heart of Mary is a very active parish, and because of this we are experiencing a strain on our existing facilities. It has been determined that our parish and school are both in need of additional space for a variety of uses - ministry, education/athletic, and social. Specifically, we propose to address these needs by:
Archdiocesan Endowment for Catholic Education Assessment Our confidence in undertaking this building program is founded on the demonstrated support of parishioners in the planning of this project and input gathered from many of you on the need and appropriateness of this expansion. These findings were further supported by the opportunity to cooperatively develop a portion of our campus as an assisted living facility for the elderly at no cost to the parish. Under this agreement, the Archdiocese has negotiated a 50-year lease with a base rent of $200,000 per year coming to Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish. Under this plan the old parish hall will be demolished. In its place the developer will build and operate the new facility. This entrepreneurial arrangement will provide increased annual income to the parish to complete temporarily deferred aspects of the building program, such as completion of the kindergarten classroom, the renovation of the existing rectory into offices and meeting rooms, as well as improvements to the church in regard to accessibility.
